Thinking before clicking? Not convincing.

Last na 'to bago yung Grassroots Project.

Altogether, GMA's "Think before you Click" campaign is a good advocacy in reminding netizens in their responsibility as users of the Information Superhighway. There's only a minor glitch in the process, however; and you'll find it out later--after this interesting post at People for Media.

Think before you click, indeed

JULY 30, 2011

by Daryl Zamora

IT’S timely, relevant, important.
GMA News’ “Think Before You Click” campaign is probably the best (or only?) media literacy campaign on the digital life which — I daresay — can even save lives. It advocates responsible use of social media — an attitude critical in a time when information dissemination at a personal level is already quick and easy.
The Economist described our times well: with social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook (and now Google+ enters the scene), the world is back to the coffee house of 1700s America. Information is floating in the din of the pub; sometimes nobody knows where the information comes from, but it’s there, free for redistribution [and misuse, may I add].
“Think Before You Click” simply reminds social media users to be wary about what they post on their bulletins or feeds; the information they post just might be used to harm them. Think the forgetful, grumpy employee who badmouths the boss who happens to be one of his Twitter followers. And the trigger-happy lass who takes photos of her house and posts it on Facebook, available for public ogling by robbers and kidnappers. Sad. [Indeed.]
But that’s just one side of the campaign. “Think Before You Click” is primarily a reminder against unfair and maleficent use of social media. What do you do to a tweet informing you about an acquaintance’s supposed scandalous misdeed? RT? Indeed, people now should also get the ideal journalist’s nose for truth. One has to measure the veracity of tweets first before retweeting them, especially when they are about people — and especially when one has hundreds of followers. [Have to emphasize that one.] And we’re talking about information on private people here, non-celebs who have no claim to nor dream of fame, ordinary people who want to be let alone.
One big minus to GMA News’ campaign, however, is its inclusion of Carlos Celdran as a model of responsible social media use. [Yeah, that bloke who just post random, insulting shit online.] While a talented person, Mr. Celdran is among the most rabid anti-Catholic social media users, some of whose tweets and retweets were far from fair to the people involved. [Come to think of it: This guy's broadcasting his insanity.]
Then again, we as ordinary news consumers, should also throw back the “think before you click” mantra at GMA News and other members of the “media elite” (thanks to Arnel Endrinal for the term): Think before you click “Publish”. And, especially when your piece is so “explosive” that certain actually-important details might have disappeared into the background, think twice. [Basically, this applies to everyone, including me. It just so happens that the system's not right.]

PNoy's SONA is boring. Just read this one.

I wanna laugh my ass out loud with this

----------------------------------------------

State of the Noynoy Address (SONA)

Yey! It is just three days before the much awaited event of the year. On Monday, we will see this country's president do what he does best in front of national TV. Benigno S. Aquino (a.k.a. Noynoy) will be giving his second State of the Nation Address (a.k.a. SONA). [Why the a.k.a.'s, anyway? And what does he wanna say now, huh?]
.

Many people in the media are making their guess on what will Noynoy say in the SONA. Well, I have my guess too and if I am Noynoy this is what I will “say” this coming Monday:

My fellow Filipinos, I am here to highlight the state of our Nation. In just one year, my administration achieved great things for our country. Here are some of those achievements: [Achievements, eh?]

1. I successfully received a Porsche from a "friend." The Porsche is a boost to our economy because the Porsche allowed me to be cruise around the city without the need for the government to buy a new car. [and like driving along your "straight path" while your constituents are dying to walk in it?] Rest assured that my Porsche has no wang-wang. [Really?]

2. In the first year of my presidency, I successfully dated at least three girls. They did not become my girlfriends, however, and I blame the media for always checking on my love-life. [So what do you think is more important? your lovelife or your job?] I promise that I will date more than ten girls in the next year of my presidency. With the help of my Porsche, I believe that we can achieve this objective. [I don't even think about having a girlfriend soon, Mr. President, so just put it aside.]

3. Many people say that I stay awake until wee hours of the morning because of playing computer games. That is true and I say that is necessary for the honor of our Nation. [What honor? Of being the Best DotA Player in the World? wahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!] I proudly announce to you now that I am the new champion in DoTA and I successfully defeated gamers from other country. Sacrificing the hours of sleep of me and MalacaƱang staff is not in vain. [Grabe, ha...dinamay mo pa ang staff mo.]

4. I am glad to announce that my sister Kris is not interfering with my Administration. [Proof, please?] She is now interfering with the affairs of Senator Chiz after she failed to interfere with Jojo Binay's life. [And what kind of interference would you call that?]

5. My administration believes in the saying that "two heads are better than one." That's why I applied it on various agencies of the government to improve the flow of work in my Administration. I am glad to announce that the DILG has two heads while the Communication Group is headed by three competent chiefs. I promise to double the number of Department secretaries to sow more confusion in the future. [The quote does not apply to governance.]

6. I am also pleased to announce that my Administration successfully replaced the cronies of the old administration. My Administration has new cronies and the people affectionately call them as KKK. The name KKK sounds like the name of the revolutionary movement of Andres Bonifacio.  Naming my cronies to Bonifacio's group shows how much the people love my KKK. [Can anybody with a sane mind define what KKK is?]

7. I am pleased to announce that I am the most hardworking president that the Nation ever has. [Dream on.] I already attended to 1,000 speaking engagements, I wrote 500 speeches and I cut 99 ribbons. I promise to top all of that in the next year of my presidency. [As if you are.]

8. I am pleased to announce that under my Administration, many famous people visited our country. Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus are few of those famous people. This goes to show that my administration curbed insurgency and terrorism because they are not afraid to visit our country. [Talk about tourism....]

9. There are many problems and challenges that we faced in the first year of my Administration. The main problem that we encountered is the decrease of my approval ratings. We had discovered the source of that problem and all the problems of our Nation and that is the Arroyo Administration. [As always, blaming the predecessor.]

My first year in office is just a preview of many good things to come for the Filipino people, who are my “boss.”. [I'm you're boss, and I don't see what you said as "good things to come". I'll just tell my Boss to enlighten you more, like if you care to.] I promise that I will continue to work through the "matuwid na daan" without using any wang-wang. I promise that my Administration will top all the acheivements of the Arroyo Administration. [Promises, promises. Gasgas na 'yan.]

Oh, I almost forgot. My Administration is also busy in excavating the corrupt practices of the previous administration. Just watch those exposes in TV. [And look at the collateral damage your subordinates have done.] And please ignore my incompetence and my love-life. Thank you and good night. Babalik pa ako sa paglalaro ng Grand Theft Auto. [Whatever, Mr. President. I'll just wait for 2016.]

----------------------------------------------

Anyway, I won't be watching the real SONA. I have class at that time.

Doom of the Youth: An Exhortation by Prof. Abrecio Rotor of "Living with Nature"

Young Ka Hsaw Wa from Burma receives the 2009 Ramon
Magsaysay Award for Pursuing Non-Violent Defense of
Human Rights and the Environment,
Cultural Center
of the Philippines, Metro Manila.
Youth in gay abandon

Dr Abe V Rotor

Haste is waste, you hurry things up in bundles of abandon and pleasure,
Instant in many ways, coffee to relationship, condominium, cars, food -
All for the flesh and Freud, little of Jung, nil of Gandhi, and so forgotten
The Great Teacher. Rage, rage! Is it a revival at the Waterfront
Where life is aimless, a rebel without cause? Is it cause without a rebel?

Oh, youth of pride with little treasure, like pyramid on the sands of time
Where the sea is advancing, drought at the other end - is this your pedestal?
Even at the top of your juvenile empire and endless view of the horizon
There's little to see with pride in your heart, cold, wooden and numb;
Myopic is your gaze, while the Keller's vision sleeps - the inner eye.

By the books you read, Internet you spend the best hours of your day
And in night's company with Bacchus and Venus in a raucous crowd
You are trapped, trapped in the Good Life, while the world wobbles
In Global Warming, in neo-Nostradamus' prophesy - gentle is disaster
When the youth is Rip Van Winkle snoring with the roars of the world.

And the generations, three under a roof no more, they are now apart
Here and across the seas, atop high rise, severed by the glitter of gold,
And the bonds of promise breaking up from obligation to liberation,
Orphaned is the fruit of love, Narcissus by his side, proud, untamed.
Oh, youth abandoned, seeking light from the pool, reflecting but your own.

And in your study the world is different, idea and truth reign supreme,
Outside its walls- a noosphere, a jungle of fast lanes and empty palms,
Music and noise into pop and rock, fashion of beads and sack, lights neon
In the night subduing the stars, the sky falling with acid rain and smog.
Rage, rage! But the youth can't hear, he is muffled, wired and mired.

And your culture a melange like blood in your veins, mixed, transient,
Homogenized all in the name of globalization and post-modernism
No longer shared by the Bushmen, the Goths, the other races of old;
Natural gene pools dissolving. Oh, youth you don't heed the danger
If culture dictates, no longer genes adapting to a changing world.

Oh youth, the gate is open, the hearth is waiting, your father by its side,
A Prodigal Son you have been, searching for the Golden Fleece for nought,
Hear, hear, the advice of the sage, while the bomb of capitalism ticks,
Silence is deep in danger, listen to it, don't follow Icarus, or the gods -
They have Mount Olympus. You have none, you are only human.~

Extemporaneous, dedicated to my students and audience, Radyo ng Bayan. AVR

SONA? Nahhh....

I just hope we have classes when the President delivers it...

since my Monday classes are scheduled at 3 to 9....

Bishops are NOT "kadiri". The ones who call them such are.

First things first: Let me tell you that I'm not siding on anyone in writing these scribbles, especially this one.

I write this shit because some members of our society are going waaaaay too far--in this case, Elizabeth Angsioco, the Pro-RH Bill Ultrafeminist Bitch who is writing for Manila Standard Today. The crappy article could be read HERE, and below, I'll give my rants....

Ready your First Aid kits, people.

------------------------------------------------------

Shock and outrage are all over because millions of pesos in Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds meant to help poor Filipinos were instead used to purchase vehicles for certain members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. [Uhh, where can we read that? Here? hahahaha]

What these men in robes did was very wrong on several counts. [Come on. Show it.]

The 2005 CBCP Statement on Gambling said that based on MORAL teachings, “…the CBCP has made it a collective policy:.. to refrain from soliciting or receiving funds from illegal and legal gambling so as not to promote a culture of gambling; and to encourage church personnel and church institutions to refrain from doing the same, even when the objective may be that of helping the poor.” [Uh-huh...]

The PCSO is mandated to manage legal numbers games [Legal? Yes. Contributing to poverty alleviation? Not felt.]. Even if proceeds go to charity, the money is still from gambling, legal as it may be. Clearly, therefore, these bishops violated their own policy and did something immoral. “Helping the poor” cannot be a justification here [Proof, please...(of course except for the one you just mentioned].

I wonder if the CBCP will discipline these bishops [They are. They are even persuading their brother Bishops to speak about the truth, which in your part can be lies].

Art. VI, Sec. 29(2) of the Philippine Constitution states, “No public money or property shall be appropriated, applied, paid, or employed, directly or indirectly, for the use, benefit, or support of any sect, church, denomination, sectarian institution, or system of religion, or of any priest, preacher, minister, other religious teacher, or dignitary as such, except when the priest, preacher, minister, or dignitary is assigned to the armed forces, or to any penal institution, or government orphanage or leprosarium.” [So what?]

Even for a non-lawyer like me, this provision is self-explanatory [Self-explanatory, indeed. But there should be more legal interpretation of it; it's like you're using the Bible for your own convenience]. As plain as day, what then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, PCSO officials, and the bishops did was not only morally BUT legally wrong [Whatever. We don't need to mention more names; it's just wasting precious web and print space].

Even if those vehicles are used for social work, they still are used by, benefit, and support, directly and indirectly, the Roman Catholic Church [Besides, you're ignorant that the Catholic Church, though based in Rome, have other major rites--Antiochian, Syrian, and Byzantine. For more information, please refer to MSAG and other Catholic blogs] and the bishops. It is this simple [Simple? Is the structure of your sentence simple? Anyway, why do you have to focus your bitterness to Catholics? Is it because they spearhead everything against what you're supporting?].

I wonder if cases will be filed against those involved. [And I presume that if ever the Bishops concerned are put to jail, you'll laugh at their faces.]

Last May 28, I wrote “The church of the poor” (http://bit.ly/jnvdow) which specified the stock holdings of various Catholic entities in the Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI) and Philex Mining Corporation. Then, their total assets in stocks totalled P17.5 billion.

Three months later, stock prices rose. Based on Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) 7 July 2011 records, their holdings in these corporations are now worth a whooping P18,040,238,371.80.

These Catholic entities earned P567 million doing nothing! [Nothing? Are you sure? Then what do you call their "Pondo ng Pinoy"? Their social work for the poor? Can your anti-Church people even match what they did for 2,000 years?]

This is not all. The lists of their top 100 stockholders corporations submit quarterly to the PSE, Catholic entities have the following holdings in these corporations:

1. San Miguel Corporation (SMC) as of 31 June 2011 (the number to the right indicates ranking in list of stockholders)
• (31) El Superior De La Corporacion Filipina de Padres Agustinos Recoletos, Inc. with 7,370,000 shares;

Becas Y Vocaciones with 621,702 shares;
• (93) Carmel of St. Therese of the Child Jesus with 592,956 shares;
• (97) The Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Cebu with 451,864 shares; and
• (100) The Roman Catholic Bishop of Nueva Segovia De Vigan with 428,067 shares.
In SMC alone, RCC groups own a total of 13,323,181 shares worth P1,698,705,577.50 (at P127.50/share) as of 7 July PSE Market Information.

2. Ayala Group as of 31 March disclosure
• (64) Roman Catholic Bishop of Tagbilaran with 10,000 preferred B shares worth P1,015,000.00 (P100.10/share);
• (73) The Roman Catholic Bishop of Tuguegarao with 24,015 Ayala Corp. shares worth P7,828,890.00 at P326.00/share; and
• (100) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila with 373,740 Ayala Land shares worth P5,890,142.40 at P15.76/share.
Total share value of RCC entities in Ayala Group is PhP14,734,032.40 as of 7 July.

3. PHINMA Corporation as of 30 June 2011
• (20) Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul with 159,575 shares;
• (21) The Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Juan De Dios with 153,880 shares; and
• (52) Religious of the Virgin Mary 58,975 shares.
In PHINMA, they own 372,430 shares valued (as of 5 July) at P12.30/share or a total of P4,580,889.00.

4. Concrete Aggregates Corporation (CA) as of 31 March 2011
• (9) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila with 78,486 shares;
• (18) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila – Real Casa De
Misericordia with 13,067 shares;
• (24) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila – Hospital De San Juan De Dios with 8,317 shares;
• (66) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila – Hospicio De San Jose with 1,898 shares; and
• (97) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila Mayoromia Dela
Catedral with 841 shares.
In CA, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila’s various arms own a total of 102,609 shares worth P4,514,796 as of 7 July at P44.00/share.

5. PAL Holdings, Inc. as of March 31
• (22) Roman Catholic Bishop of Cebu with 215,250 shares; and
• (98) Congregacion De La Mision De San Vicente De Paul with 42,059 shares.

Here, they own 257,309 shares valued at P1,240,229.38 (P4.82/share as of 7 July.)

[Another waste of space. Even your most ardent readers will ask you how did you get all of these...or will they?]

There are a few more minor holdings that are not included here and many more corporations can be examined. Even without touching the RCC’s real estate properties (which are surely worth many billions) [What real estate properties are you talking about?], and its highly profitable businesses like schools and hospitals, it is quite clear that the RCC as a church, as well as its various entities are FILTHY RICH. [If that is the case, at least they give their wealth for the betterment of society; the only thing that makes it almost unknown is the fact that the people behind the Catholic Church who do such are anonymous for their own security.]

Catholic stock holdings alone in identified corporations already total to almost 20 billion pesos! Not bad for a Church, really. [Bah! Nonsense.]

What gets my goat is the fact that despite their untouched billions, the good bishops [Again, you got the nerve calling these Bishops good and at the same time disgusting. Make up your mind.] have the gall to compete against poor Filipinos for meager government funds. And for what? Vehicles that they can very well afford to buy.

Bishops, this is very, very wrong. This is kadiri! [Kadiri ka rin!]

You know what, I don't really argue with women; but this woman has gone way too far.

I just hope that she may be enlightened, and that I could have longer patience on this.

Kadiring article 'yan.

How Can I earn from Blogging?

I have to admit: I need money; but I'm not obsessed with it, for crying out loud.

Besides, I have survived more than a year blogging, first with MSAG, then here. So I have raised my question to my mother if I could make this hobby a side-job in some way, and she said: "Why not?" Well, that would be beneficial in both ways: I can express the thing I have to express without compromising ethics, and at the same time, make profit of it....

This is my only problem....

HOW CAN I DO IT?

hahahahahaha.

Andi is Pregnant?

Let me take a time out on social issue shit, because I'm zeroing in to Andi Eigenmann's pregnancy....

You heard it right: the star of "Agua Bendita" and "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin" is four months into her pregnancy, and it is her mother, Jaclyn Jose (herself being into premarital sex in her younger years), who exposed it.

Well, I have to agree with my readers with one thing: SAYANG.

One thing is certain: the father of Andi's child must take responsibility for this.

And yeah, I have to admit with Lourd's point:

But I'won't take it any longer. I'll just add to the damage that was done.

Atheist or merely (and bitterly) Anti-Catholic?

What is huge is always seen, and oftentimes, what is huge is always being taken for a profit.

In a predominantly Theist Philippines, what is huge--in social influence and contribution--is the Catholic Church; and in the almost 500 years it existed in our islands as the Christianity recognized the world over, it encountered times of trials, victories, and even controversies. But in our times, where means of communication have became sophisticated, dissidents harness the technologies in hand and often confuse people of what really is the truth.

Looks like media moderation is a thing of the past...or is it?

Just because of a bill that liberalizes and legalizes contraception, it seems that all hell broke loose and people who considered themselves as "atheists" and "freethinkers" started to emerge from no-one-knows-where; most of them in ambiguous identities, if not anonymous, online. They even go to the extent of mockery by making hate pages, in the case of Facebook.

But it's strange: of all the religions or religious groups/organizations that ever existed in history, WHY DO THEY ALWAYS MOCK THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?

Well, let's base on the premise that "what is huge is always seen". It is a given that it is the Catholic Church that has the most exposure in almost everything. It is also a given that in every issue, the Church (from now on, I refer the Catholic Church simply as the Church with a capital "C") has a corresponding statement for it. Though there is the Church, some dissidents, heretics, and schismatics within the Christian umbrella, along with other religions such as Islam and Buddhism, have their respective communities, forcing Catholicism in a double-crossed situation--schism and heresy from within, persecution and scorn from without.

But getting back, why do they have to concentrate their arguments to Catholicism rather than to distribute it to all the religions they encounter and research?

Simple answer: They see the Church as the most rational religious organization of all; and they opt to challenge it in the hopes of defeating its arguments. Besides, arguing religion with other groups will be such a waste of time for them.

So if that is the case, they're not really religion-haters because they only have a specific religion to hate: Catholicism.

Now why bother arguing each other how to call these pains-in-the-neck if their "atheism" is only applied for Catholicism? Why not calling themselves mere anti-Catholics?

Bastards.

Same Sex S***?

Yeah. I have to curse that one.

Well, lately, I noticed on the fuckin' news that homosexuals are unveiling their butterfly wings and parade on the streets like they're in Rio for the Carnival.

After that "marriage ceremony" in Baguio, I start to puke. Why? They're out of their minds, man! They're even creating their own church for their convenience and all that stuff!

That's not Christianity at all, for crying out loud! That's blasphemy on the conservative Christian (and not specifically Catholic) perspective. Literally loving one's neighbor cannot be an excuse to sexual responsibility.

And yeah, who motivated these...misguided people to make their ladlad?

Let me guess: the RH Bill proponents?

You know what, I can tolerate the existence of homosexuals, but not to the point that we'll be like Sodom and Gomorrah. I don't wanna see a Sodomite society. Such cultural bullshit.

And for my Post-Scriptum Sarcasm:
Thanks a lot, Lady Gaga.

UST's "New Seal" is an Eyesore!

I have to be frank with the creators of  UST's "new" logo: I don't like it, neither the hundreds of thousands of Thomasians online.
Why settle for colorful designs [the one on the left] if the classic (and in this case, the full title) logo of the University of Santo Tomas [right side! :D] is better?

I hope my eyes would heal faster. It's bleeding.

Now this is F***IN' disgusting!

I know that there is freedom of expression and homosexuals are spreading everywhere, but this has gone way too far. Though Uganda was wrong in illegalizing homosexuality, this kind of "religion" is also wrong in ministering same-sex marriages.

Whatever happened to heterosexual trust?

BS.

"Last Friday Night"?

Katy Perry, a.k.a. Kathy Beth Terry, have another comedic music video off her sleeve.

You see, her latest single, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" is something eccentric as anyone could see. It's redefining and giving justice to "...Partyin', partyin', YEAH!" (You heard that right, Rebecca Black is featured in the video in tribute to her viral video "Friday"). The video will surely skyrocket in views since there are two Glee actors featured there.

But hey, do you get the message of the song? All I could see here is that the song tells about a Friday night mischief complete with weird things like getting drunk and all that; and the next day someone saw herself like she didn't remembered what happened. Worse, she may also discover that she was totally naked when she woke up. That's what I understood.

Very promiscuous, indeed, is this one; but it was sugar-coated with the creativity and eccentricity identified as Katy Perry's.

Did Rebecca gained weight here? And whatever happened to Kenny G's sax-playing in the video?

Be my guest:

Philippine Athletics and Society

Don't get me wrong. I have my hands down on our athletes.

However, the only thing that gets me near to puking is that most of the fans of our athletes don't have an idea, if not a little, of their background and why did they clicked to the masses.

First and foremost is Manny Pacquiao. (Take note: I'm ranting on his fans, not on Pacman himself.) It is a given that he is a boxer and boxing is one of the uniting factors of our country. What makes me pissed off is that the Philippines will be a better place IF AND ONLY IF Manny fights; after that, nothing changed except the results of the fight. On the other hand, it seems paradoxical, if not ironic, that most Pro-RH Bill people regard Pacquiao (who is a Pro-lifer) as a great person. Why do I say so? It is a given that boxing has no relation at all to the topic; but isn't it a slap in Manny's face when you had the chance to tell him: "I admire you as a boxer, but I oppose your beliefs and convictions as a legislator"?

The other athletic personality talk-about today is the Philippine Azkals, our football team. They sprouted out like mushroom in media exposure, thanks to the Younghusbands (who by the way, are more of Brits than Filipinos). Though not the team captains, they are the most prominent players in the team because of their face value (and what do I expect? Girls scream to death when they see the team). Again, I'm not against the Azkals; I'm even happy that football is having its advent here in the Philippines. The only thing that is lacking is that there should be widespread education on football, pinapa-bakya of sorts.

Nevertheless, I still hope they would continue to inspire more people to fulfill their dreams.

Boring Thursday.

This semester, we don't have classes on Thursdays. And since I wrote this on the first Thursday of the schoolyear, let me tell you that I'm bored.

Well, normally, if you're all alone, with nothing to do than to stay online and do your initial homeworks, or if you're lazy enough to sing "The Lazy Song", all you think about is what to do. And yes: procrastination is one of the factors that will affect you.

Luckily for me, I have an assignment; and I also have an Independence Day post at MSAG that I have to re-edit over and over again (you see, that post is designed for twelve days in the making.), which will be out on Fathers' Day. Don't worry, if you wanna hear my voice, I'll also double-time the post so that I could video myself.

Anyway, I'm starting to realize I'm not making any sense to the things I wrote. Looks like I have to stop now....

But before I do, Charice's FB page closed shop. Here's the reason why.

I'm no die-hard "Chaster", but to those who are a bunch of plastic bags to Charice, GET A LIFE.

Marrying her? THAT EARLY?

I'm going to be hitting two birds with one stone here....

First is Justin Bieber's upcoming proposal to a much older Selena Gomez in the latter's 19th birthday. How the hell did he assured everyone, especially the fans, that Selena is the one for him? Like, he's just fifteen, for crying out loud.Well, this was his reason: After Justin heard that Sean Kingston was involved in a jet ski accident a week ago, he realized that life could be unpredictable and anything may happen (and in reality, it does happen.... Remember AJ Perez? May he rest in peace.). BUT PROPOSING TO SELENA THAT EARLY?

Which leads to my second point.... I bet everyone is in love with that Bruno Mars song called "Marry You", and I bet you're singing its chorus which sounds like this:

"It's a beautiful night.
We're lookin' for something dumb to do.
Hey, baby,
I think I wanna marry you...."

And when things get wrong, and the relationship is weak, what happens next?

You guessed it....

DIVORCE.

Has the mentality on relationship already degraded? If we ask about the other countries, we may say yes. But has it degraded here? That we have to speculate. But most of the time, families who experienced divorce would likely have worse situations underway.

I have to quote my younger sister about this:

"Bakit pa sila ikinasal kung magdi-divorce lang din sila [sa huli]?"

And here's what I replied to her:

"Para lang silang tanga."

Unborn versus mother [A Rant]

Okay, I saw this one, and from its content, I wanted to do a no-holds-barred rant on the article written by an ultrafeminist bitch named Elizabeth Angsioco of the Democratic Social Women of the Philippines. Just like in MSAG, [my comments will be in this format]

...And yeah, ready your eyes for everything you'll see from this point. It's gonna get bloody.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Who is more important, the unborn or the mother? No, this is not a trick question [Yes, it is not a trick question, but to answer you, both are important]. Unfortunately for women, some of our legislators seem to believe that the unborn is more important than the mother [Excuse me! When did our legislators stated that the unborn is more important than the mother? They're just balancing the importance of both the mother and the unborn. Stupid point.]

I refer to several bills on the “protection of the unborn” filed in both Houses of Congress [So what?].

At the House of Representatives, ParaƱaque Rep. Roilo Golez [the frontliner...] filed HB13, “An Act Providing for the Safety and Protection of the Unborn Child and for Other Purposes” lodged with the Committee on the Welfare of Children. Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing, for his part filed HB3667, “An Act Increasing the Penalties Against Abortion, Amending for the Purpose Articles 256, 257, 258 and 259 of the Revised Penal Code, and for Other Purposes” referred to the Committee on Revision of Laws [So what?].

In the Senate, Senators Juan Ponce Enrile [huh? Manong Johnny's pro-life? Sweet....] and Bong Revilla, Jr. [...and Kap too!] filed identical bills, SBs 2497 and 2635 both entitled, “An Act to Uphold the Human Rights and Promote the Welfare of the Unborn Child, Amending for the Purpose Articles 256, 257, 258 and 259 of the Revised Penal Code, and for Other Purposes.” Sen. Ralph Recto on the other hand, authored SB2584, “An Act for the Safety and Protection of the Unborn Child and for Other Purposes,” an exact replica of the Golez bill [And I say again, SO WHAT?].

Needless to say, all the bills mentioned have the same intent: to protect the unborn. Nothing in these bills takes cognizance of the mother’s needs and rights [You got it all twisted, madam. Reference, please.].

Article II, Section 12 of the Constitution clearly says, “The State… shall EQUALLY protect the life of the mother and the life of the UNBORN from conception…” (emphasis mine) [So what?].

Let’s see if these bills follow this Constitutional provision which, authors say is the foundation of their legislative proposals [Let's see if her comments follow her premises].

First, all these bills speak of the unborn as a CHILD [Huh? So what do you call the unborn aside as a mere unborn PERSON? (sarcasm here)]. I take issue with this because the Constitution does not call the unborn a child. If the framers meant to equate the former with the latter, they would have done that. An unborn can be anything from an egg, a zygote, to a fetus about to be born.

A child is someone who is born into this world, a complete human person like you and me. A child is a citizen, and therefore, has human rights [True....].

Calling the unborn a child to me is going beyond what the Constitution provides [(buzz) WRONG! An unborn is a person still developing its physical abilities inside its mother's womb. Duh....].

Second, the Constitution speaks of EQUAL protection of the mother and the unborn. The bills in question fully protect the unborn but completely neglect the mother [like the RH Bill could fully protect both the mother and the unborn. Prove to everyone that it does, and further arguments would be unnecessary.]. Some provisions can even be interpreted as protective of the unborn at the expense of the mother [Reference, madam. REFERENCE.].

Section 5 of bills of Enrile and Revilla (contents are the same with Sections 6 and 7 of Recto’s bill) reads, “Protection of the Unborn Child. - The unborn child shall be protected from abortifacients, abortive acts and practices that include abortion… which endanger or expose the unborn child to damage, injury or death, WHETHER COMMITTED WITH OR WITHOUT VIOLENCE, AND WHETHER COMMITTED WITH OR WITHOUT CONSENT OF THE MOTHER…” (emphasis mine) [So, what's the point?]

While the Constitutional prohibition against abortion must be observed, this provision is at best blind to the plight of women who are in problematic relationships or abused by their partners [and that's from an ultrafeminist. Remember that everything in excess is harmful--even too much women empowerment.]. Why would the law punish a pregnant woman who was subjected to violence that resulted in an abortion? Why would the absent of consent of the woman not taken into consideration? Under these circumstances, the woman is a victim, not a criminal [Begging the question? No idea. But whatever it is, it's twisted.].

Section 6, Parental Rights and State Power Over the Unborn Child of the Enrile and Revilla bills (similar to section 7 of Recto’s) gives superior powers to parents of a pregnant minor [which is really a default and irreplaceable responsibility] and the only time that the State can come in is to protect the unborn child from abortion [So, what's wrong with it? Admit it, Angsioco. Your mantra is "MY BODY, MY CHOICE!"].

This provision doesn’t at all care about the welfare of the pregnant minor [Huh? Are you out of your freakin' mind? In the first place, the matter of these things are so personal that not even I could infiltrate. Just let them be, for crying out loud.]. It is as if the young woman does not have any rights at all [1. Define "young woman" in terms of age. 2. What right do you want to promote to the case you present?]. What if the pregnancy was due to rape? Worse, what if the perpetrator is a family member (which is not unthinkable)? [Uh, aren't these provisions existing in the status quo?].

These “unborn bills” may be in violation of the very Constitutional provision they are anchored on [Assuming, BUT NOT CONCEDING, that that would be the case, the RH Bill is much more in violation to the Constitution. But in reality, How would you say so? Any proof than personal interpretations?]. There is no equal protection for the mother’s life here. In fact, these bills are very harsh on women [Talk about bitterness....].

Third, to protect the unborn, we must first protect the mother [How?... Well, here's a suggestion: If you wanted to protect the unborn, why not let the mother be? She is the one pregnant; and even if you sympathize with her being a mother, you are still not the mother of the unborn in her womb.].

It is frustrating that these bills tend to pit the unborn against mothers [And it is also frustrating that these people are meddling in personal matters.]. Why do our honorable lawmakers resort to this? [And you got the nerve to call them honorable, eh?]

We do not need expertise to know that for as long as the unborn remains inside the woman’s womb, it is completely dependent on the woman’s body systems. Science has not advanced to that level where a woman is no longer needed to give life to others, or to make men capable of being pregnant and giving birth [Now her true colors are showing....].

For as long as this is the situation, the health of all unborn depends upon the mother’s health. The unborn will not be born without the mother [Uh-huh.].

Laws, therefore, should protect the mother and address her needs. Make pregnancies and childbirths safe. This will redound to the protection and welfare of the unborn [And how will you do that without harming both?].
The Constitution says the mother and unborn shall be equally protected. The way to protect the unborn is through the mother. This is the way to do it [Incomplete. Let me continue it: The way to protect the unborn is through the mother; THE WAY TO PROTECT THE MOTHER IS TO LET THE UNBORN LIVE.].

***

My piece, “The church of the poor” elicited much response and the big majority expressed indignation (and I am being mild here) about the riches of the Philippine Roman Catholic Church [Mild? I call it a low blow.]. They share the view that the Roman Catholic Church should do a lot more in helping poor Filipino Catholics [They are, you just don't give a damn about it.].

There are those who gave more information and I would like to thank them even if they choose to be anonymous. I intend to verify these information before using them.

To those interested, all the data I wrote about are publicly available from the sources I named. Moreover, I intend to write another piece if more information come my way.

Anyone still alive?

I have to admit: This bitch is getting crazier by the minute!

Too much doublespeak shit.

I rest my case.

What will I expect in my Junior Year in College....

Third Year. How time flies so fast that you didn't noticed how far you have gone.

Four Majors and four Minors. Now I can feel that I'm in the course I'm in. Of course, a lot of BS will still happen, and I hope I'll get it's two cent's worth somehow.

The only thing I have to worry about is how to go home if I leave UST at nine in the evening twice a week. Bummer, really.

Anyway, watch out for my Independence Day editorial at MSAG going out at June 12.

A blog like this is long overdue. Seriously.

Contraception and its freakin' mentality.

Useless Hysteria.

Never-ending conflicts.

And yeah...Malta had divorce already.

And we're still like this.

What's next? a Land of Confusion?

Oh...by the way, listen to this while I say:

Disclaimer. NOT: The Primer

Media, Society, and God, my flagship blog, is all about the tendencies of Media, social issues, apologetics, liturgy, Catholic advocacies and bits of rants and literature. The reason why I made another blog is to show my not-so-secular, unedited, and reactionary side without losing touch with my one-year-old blog and also with reality.

Of course my language will be a bit liberalized from MSAG, since this will be a more personalized blog, and since I'm more free to air out my sentiments. But still, whatever I've told you there will have a parallel here. I will also post my YouTube videos with some of the "susmaryosep"s that will never click at MSAG (as if I'm bitter to my own blog. hahahaha).

So, as early as now, please bear with my blah blah blahs.... It's part of my life.

Check out my very first post. Whatever it is, I'll surprise you, suckers.
